TESTIMONIAL

“Keanu came to Ashley Down to deliver a day of dance to Key Stage 2. We were blown away by his sessions and the joy it brought to our children.

As a result, we had him in to run an after-school club, which due to his success has grown to two. His professionalism and enthusiasm make him a pleasure to work with.”

— Simon Field, Ashley Down Primary School

THE SCHOOL

MAMI(Move and Mean it) is a dance company that runs dance classes, choreographs for various projects and has a performance team.

Most importantly we help people express themselves through dance and their movement, regardless of style.

Whether you’re a beginner or have had many years of training, we will help you embrace your creativity and support and guide you on your dance journey.

Anyone teaching on behalf of MAMI will always take extra care in making sure that every class they teach is a safe space with zero negative judgement from the teacher or fellow students. Dance is an expression and we feel every dancer should be comfortable with who they are and feel free to express themselves safely and comfortably.

MAMI is founded by Keanu Wilson, a Bristol-based Hip Hop and Breakdancer who specialises in storytelling through movement.

Keanu has always struggled with shyness, but on the stage he found he could communicate best. He has now performed in front of audiences in the thousands, and trained with some of the best Hip Hop companies in the UK as well as leading projects in Tunisia and Venezuela.

Born in Kent in 1992, Keanu was athletic from an early age. He trained heavily in basketball before turning to dance at the age of 15, when he discovered Hip Hop and Breakdancing. Largely self-taught, he looked to expand his dance skills, regularly travelling to Pineapple Performing Arts Sunday Schools. At 16, he attended North London Dance Studio where he got his Performing Arts Diploma.

He then began performing with Platinum Performing Arts and Impact Dance, companies which have contributed hugely to his success and development as a dancer.

MAMI is the culmination of his dream to help others learn to express themselves and have confidence in their own skin.
